The new issue of uncube “Construct Africa” is out now focusing in on an exciting crop of socially engaged urban and architecture projects – and the people making them happen – across the continent today: be it a floating school in Ghana, a document conservation centre in Mali, new public space and facilities in an informal settlement in Kenya, or an architecture newspaper in Tanzania.

Of course given the thorny/loaded issue of attempting to focus on an entire continent, we debate this in a round table with some of those very people, drawing out useful lessons and illuminating shared issues, whilst beginning to trace an exciting thread emerging of the integration of the formal and the informal in practice, planning and projects that have relevance worldwide.
